When Life Gets Crazy

The hardest thing to do in life is be consistent. Now, that could be my own opinion, but in my 21 years of experience in my own life and observing the people around me, that is something I have always seen. Waking up at the same time, eating your breakfast, working out or running or meditating, going to work, and coming back to cook clean and continue being consistent in your "life goals" or your New Year's resolutions are all things everyone wants to achieve. But cars break down, work runs over, and the barista can never make your coffee in the 2.7 minutes you were planning. Life always finds a way to throw you curveballs in life. The key to being consistent is being adaptable, flexible, and not getting down on yourself when you don't check off all your morning "to-do" check boxes. On top of that in a day-to-day basis, millions of people face mental health challenges or physical challenges that can even further impede their day-to-day checklists. In my own life, I have lost my consistency, ryhtmn and schedule, and now that I am back at school, it is my goal to find it again.

During my holidays, I took Snowball (our dog) to Croatia to be with our grandparents. It was something my sister and I were looking forward to doing, but of course, the plan that we had was out the window before we even left. What was supposed to be a fairly straightforward trip from Denver to Germany to Croatia turned into a road trip from Germany to Croatia. I have never driven in Europe, but since we couldn't fly on Lufthansa to Croatia due to having Snowball, my sister and I decided to rent a car and drive the 6 hours to our grandparents, where Snowball will stay until the summer. I also spent New Year's with my boyfriend in Florida, and we drove everywhere, explored so much, and had a ton of fun doing it all! With it all, I probably drove close to 90 hours, which was crazy:

Driving home from school > 22 hrs

Driving to Zagreb and back > 12 hrs

Driving in Florida > 33 hrs

Driving back to school > 22hrs

Total = 89 hrs of driving

(Yes, my back hurts hehe)

Enough of a recap lets go to now . . .

As I start this new semester and my official second season of playing tennis, I am super excited. The new team we have has a lot of potential, and I am excited to be a part of what could be something amazing here. But not only in sports, the school has also been growing, improving and showing their intent to "do better" for the future of their students. To come to a school when it was at some of its worst management, staff and condition to see them decide to turn around and start improving makes me so happy to be here and see it happen. This is also a semester where I can really explore what I want to do here while I complete this degree and move onto my masters. I started working in the Writing Center to both expand my own writing knowledge and help others find their voice in writing. This is another chance for me to find more communities here at school and they really are a family. I am also hoping to get involved in more research in agriculture to broaden my knowledge and lastly working with my mentor to start encouraging more environmentally friendly campus living. We will see how it all goes but I am super excited! I am hoping to keep learning, growing, experiencing and most importantly finding my rythmn again!
